Tapas
. . . yes, it all began with Spanish tapas. A year after
completing renovations on our Spanish cave house in Andalucia
we were enjoying some rare time off in a local eatery in
Orce village. Eyeing up the somewhat impressive Serrano
hams hanging in the corner of the tapas bar, savouring a
small plate of wafer thin jamon drenched in
olive oil with fresh bread and tomatoes we thought that
this is a Spanish flavour that should not be kept a secret!
A few months later in the spring of 2005 research began
and by 2006 the Spanish delicatessen had become a reality.
The
People
We
are Iain and Gayle, passionate about all things Spain
and her extensive array of gastronomic delights. As a
teacher of applied modern languages Gayle, originally
from Newcastle, had already spent time in Andalucia and
after several years of teaching Spanish and German in
secondary education in the UK Gayle's skills are still
applied to this day in the local village, actively taking
part in teaching modern languages to the local children.
Gayles key role is logistics and operations management
which keeps the delicatessen running like clockwork.
Iain,
originally from Northumberland has worked in managerial
positions in the manufacturing, retail and catering industries
since 1990. Early 2003 however saw investigations into
unique Spanish living, renovation of a century old cave
house and becoming submersed in Spanish culture. Iain
takes care of e-commerce and business development and
has a keen interest in photography.
A
Family Business . . .
Orce
Serrano Hams is a family run business located in rural
Andalucia, we work closely with artisan suppliers many
of whom have been curing hams and other Spanish meats
for generations, the result is some of the very finest
produce from the region which is impossible to source
outside of Spain. Forging good relationships with other
small Spanish run businesses has been a priority and ensures
that you receive the highest quality hams and cured meats
available. Since the beginning the business has grown
rapidly, embracing new concepts and technologies, 2010
saw the opening of new offices in Orce village and in
August 2011 celebrated its fifth birthday. The vision
has and will always be the same however and that is to
source the finest products small Andalucian businesses
have to offer, striving to continually offer the best
we understand that without you, our customers the Spanish
delicatessen would not exist..
